Online Affiliate Marketing – the Performance Model

Online affiliate marketing is the marketing done by web publishers. This kind of marketing is provided by online companies or by individual web site owners. The owners of web sites publish the content of the advertiser as advertisements supported with links. These links are clicked by the visitors to reach the page of advertiser’s site.

Affiliate marketing is a lot more like paid searching. In paid searching or popular PPC campaigns, the contextual links of advertisers are provided as sponsored links which are clicked by the visitors to open the pages of the advertisers.

Online affiliate marketing also takes into consideration some other actions performed by the visitors. There may be an e-mail generation or enquiry submission about a product or an online order. This is a business which can further be converted into a sale for the merchant.

Affiliate marketing is also known by a second name called performance marketing. Though it is not recommended to use such term, but in certain cases it applies to a good degree. For example, in CPA (Cost Per Action) or CPS (Cost Per Sale) models the affiliates are paid only for the performance. The higher the performance the more are the benefits made by the affiliate.

There are different strategies used by an affiliate marketer to pursue the program. Many of these strategies have been devised for online advertising. In addition the marketers have found new ways and means to highlight the products and services of the advertiser.

Affiliate marketing is a much difficult marketing practice and requires a lot of patience and creative insights. The marketer has to make the people aware of the product, break through the psyche of the customers and eventually sell them the products.

However it is not difficult always. Sometimes the discounts offered to direct sellers or affiliate is a good incentive for the customers. Te affiliate only has to put the deal before the visitors. The visitors that are devoted to specific content and web sites are often easy to convince.

Online affiliate marketing is a nice paying job. Affiliates can earn anything from few hundred dollars a week to hundreds and thousands for a day; in case of per sales payment method.
