Small Business Marketing Ideas

Does anyone have any ideas on how market a small business inexpensively?

My husband and I are starting a cleaning business together and we’re kind-of stuck on how we should go about marketing our new business. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Good for you! Do you clean offices or homes? If offices, forget flayers and putting your business cards on bulletin boards. Contact people IN PERSON and make a proposal which includes costs and services.

Buildings of any size have a management office or maintenance department. Call on them and state your case: We’re starting out; we’d like some work from you; we’ll do a good job; our prices are reasonable. (Warning: don’t work too cheap.)

If they say “no,” ask them who else might use your services. If they say “XYZ Co.” go to that company, and say “ABC Co. referred me to you.” That’s called “networking.

Many construction companies need crews to clean up after construction. Call on them, too. Just remember that if they say “no,” ask who else you can call on. Then say you were referred by the first company. People trust friends.
